TASTING NOTES: “Golden Vineyard in Mendocino is ideal for growing Syrah, a variety that emphasizes the terroir. Our Onesta Syrah is filled with juicy plum and black cherry with a hint of lavender and sage. The earthy or meaty aromas release after some time in the glass, giving graphite and maple-smoked bacon flavors. The complexity of this wine comes to fruition on the palate with firm tannins and a velvety long finish.” (AbV 14.8%)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: How I thought “sirrah” was just another way to say sir but with a funny or outdated accent to it. Apparently that’s not the case.

I know it shows up in Shakespeare, but I always imagine it in a Southern accent. Like from a southern dandy type of guy. He says something like, “I say, sirrah, I do declare…”

Anyway, sirrah is a negative way to address someone in its original connotations. It’s sort of like calling someone a peasant or beneath you before you even know who they are. A power move.

Swaggering into the tavern with your big, feathered cap and coin purse a-jingling. Some guy spills his ale on you. “Sirrah, we are about to have an issue,” as you tug a fine glove from your fingers with which to slap him upside his head. Those were the days.
