Nope two different vineyards and both great in their own ways! In fact I popped a Hyland tonight because I got 6 more today If I can somehow make it out your way sometime I would trade you for two of the Momtazi?
Great stuff both of them.
@ScottW58 If they ship by late February that might actually be possible! I’ll be in SoCal in early March and could bring a couple of bottles. Looking forward to trying these!
@klezman@ScottW58 That would be great, but I need to check on some family commitments. I’ll be in Temecula the weekend of March 7/8. At a minimum I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on local wineries, especially following the gathering there next month. I’ve generally been disappointed in the past but may not be hitting the right places.
Looks like about 95 offers coming tomorrow. Always in for Veleta sardines, etc. Not sure about a lot of the offers since I generally do not buy PN or chard. CC should be safe based on pre-lim review.
Lots of interesting offers, but I have to admit, the number of hard-to-distinguish wineries has increased. Not sure how much I’m going to spend here, but that’s ok since I need to pay for child care
@rjquillin I got a few hangers, ribs, a porterhouse, and a picanha. Too much $, but it looks like I’m not aging a whole rib primal this year because Costco doesn’t appear to be getting them in.
@klezman@ScottW58
Ok, so I was light on the hangers…
2 California Reserve Picanha, 5lbs
6 Midwestern Hanger Steak
2 California Reserve “Rudd” Steak 16oz
1 California Reserve Porterhouse Steak 24oz
@klezman@rjquillin@ScottW58
I finally gave Flannery Steaks a try…
1 California Reserve Picanha, 5lbs
3 Midwestern Hanger Steak
2 California Reserve “Rudd” Steak 16oz
Any other deals? Hah, been saving up for today, must make it worth it!
@klezman@rjquillin@ScottW58 it is likely I wish I had bought more later, but theres a hurricane of wine I have to decide on. No room for Sandler wines sadly… I’m up for more suggestions from all, as I am a Newb.
@klezman@rjquillin@ScottW58 old world, dry, reds, Italian and French inspired. I folllow the palate of you 3 for sure! Hoping for some whites or lighter style that won’t disappoint. I caught the tail end of BDX last year, just trying not to miss out. #FOMO
@klezman@rjquillin@TechnoViking
If you’re looking for whites I would buy the number 1 option from Goodfellow, can’t recommend that highly enough. Also Terrien Wines my friends say are killer whites (I have not tried them). Briceland is another great one. Also Maison Harbour’s whites are fantastic! A little more expensive because he is making his wines in France.
@rjquillin@ScottW58@TechnoViking Should we be putting in for a case of the Goodfellow Berserker Cuvee to split? At $33/bottle it’s a lot more spendy than the PG version, but it sounds like top notch juice.
@rjquillin@ScottW58
OK, case ordered (well, requested). That means I’m definitely done for the day, just shy of 3 cases.
4 each unless I hear otherwise.
@kaolis@klezman@rjquillin@ScottW58 Flannery just came in, that was fast! How long do they hold up in the fridge after shipment? Im not off till Sunday and was hoping I wouldn’t have to freeze much.
@kaolis@rjquillin@ScottW58@TechnoViking They all come vac-packed. You can easily keep them in the fridge a week. Maybe even 2. But freezing dry-aged meat doesn’t kill it as much as fresher meat, so there’s no need to keep it 2 weeks without freezing.
@klezman@rjquillin@ScottW58@TechnoViking I’ve also split hanger packages once in awhile, using one, freezing one. I use the re-wrapped/frozen one in short order, but no problem at all.
@radiolysis I bit on the Sabelli-Frisch as well. That was it for this year. I was eyeing both of Paetra’s offers, but with nobody to split with it wasn’t happening.
@InFrom@radiolysis Paetra’s wine is tasty, but the shipping completely killed the deal for me. K&L gets them in from time to time at the same or better price.
@ScottW58@Winedavid49 I think WD means wineries…
For gourmet, I’d ask the coffee guy. It sounds interesting, and he has the benefit of packing in 8 oz bags so I don’t need to freeze it all.
If Nola would do it, I know you’d have a ton of people in for her oil, vinegar, tuna, etc.
For wine suggestions, just look above
Andrew Morris from Briceland would be amazing
Cabot
and I bet Adam Frisch would love to get to know this community, what with his out of the ordinary wines.
@klezman
Whoops my mistake…Well I bought
Kelley Fox
Goodfellow
Sokolin/ Eyrie offer
Flannery
Nola’s oil (my yearly supply )
Nola’s sardines/no tuna this year.
Grassl glasses (I need more glasses like I need a whole in my head)
I think that’s it?
Picked up some Flannery Hangars, repour and some Grassl. Went light on wine this year with Scherrer and Kelley Fox. @scottw58 Did I go wrong with getting the Momtazi? Wondering if I should try and switch to the Hyland.
@rc70 Completely different from my choices aside from Flannery! I nearly bit on the Virage, but instead that went to a split case of Berserker Cuvee Pinot from Goodfellow.
I got:
Cabot Syrah
Franny Beck (Scott’s been talking them up for so long!)
Sabelli-Frisch (how could I not with those varieties?)
Fogline - the Gewurtz pulled me in
Scherrer OMV Zin
And barring any can’t-miss deals, that’s all for a few months.
@ScottW58 Di Co went quick,missed it. However I just got an email from them for an allocation release of the 17 Di Co , Farella and Montecillo.
Decisions, Decisions. I do love my Cabs
@klezman Nice selection, wanted Cabot Syrah but they are UPS shippers - didn’t want to deal with hassle of trying to get FedEx shipped. Last year several places said sure we can do fedex then turned around and did ups anyway, they wound up with the wine being returned to them .
Sabelli-Frisch was intriguing but does not ship to Idaho, so a no go there.
Overflowing with Pinot so totally bypassed this year.
@chipgreen I wanted to be good, but had to reload on Fanny Beck, Sandler & Longplay and went for some Scherrer Zins. Now I know what overflow really means!
@hscottk@rjquillin@ScottW58 Yes, buy it. I’ve done so in past years. This time I went for the young Syrah pack that I won’t touch for at least 5 years.
@hscottk@klezman@rjquillin@ScottW58
Just went back and ordered the aged Syrah, now just have to hope that it actually does get shipped FedEx and not UPS.
@hscottk@klezman@rjquillin@ScottW58 I got the aged cab and Confluence last year and enjoyed it. Was ready to try Syrah this year but changed my mind at the last minute. Just too many choices…
Nope, I sent Cabot a PM asking him and he said UPS only. Last year he agreed to send my order FedEx but sent it UPS anyway. Had to drive 20 miles in horrendous traffic to the hub. He made it up to me by comping two bottles of PN, which was nice (was able to be home for that delivery). The aged Syrah is a steal.
@bolligra You are correct, Cabot is strictly UPS but I went ahead and ordered it after talking with John and he agreed to hold and ship when I contact him for a specific ship date so it will arrive when I am available. I am only at my ship address every couple of weeks and generally only there for 1 or 2 “UPS” working days. The change here to UPS has killed any purchases as the shipment just goes out whenever. That worked fine with FedEx as I have an auto hold at hub in place for shipments.
The Cabot deal just seemed to good to pass up, I love Syrah, especially quality aged ones.
Thanks for mentioning your experience as I was incorrectly given some info that he would do fedex at least now I have an acceptable work around.
Pay Todd to become GCC
https://www.wineberserkers.com/forum/app.php/grand-cru-cru
@rjquillin I can’t even become a normal Berserker. Signed up, and never got the email to verify/confirm.
@xandersherry Yeah, bad day for that, but BD is open for all today. I’m not sure you even have to be a member, as there were many ‘guests’ signed on.
Looks like Baker Lane having rough day coinciding with BD
I usually buy from campesino during BD.
I’d like to split a case of Isa and the Grenache up 50/50 if there any takers.
@CorTot one case of each? I think Isa may be gone by now
@losthighwayz I have it reserved if I can get someone to split it. $365 total, $182.5 each.
@CorTot
I’m in.
Place the order.
@CorTot @rjquillin hey! Not fair. I am in as well!
@CorTot @rjquillin I assume I’m out. Let me know either way. Thanks.
@losthighwayz @rjquillin yes, Ron took the other 1/2.
@CorTot Macario hooked me up with a mixed case!
@hscottk
Even better if you hate them I will buy them from you
@hscottk @ScottW58 Should we be having a gathering of any sort while you’re here?
@klezman @ScottW58 That would be great, but I need to check on some family commitments. I’ll be in Temecula the weekend of March 7/8. At a minimum I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on local wineries, especially following the gathering there next month. I’ve generally been disappointed in the past but may not be hitting the right places.
Remember: It’s only Quarantine if it’s in the Quarante province of France. Otherwise it’s just Sparkling Isolation.
Looks like about 95 offers coming tomorrow. Always in for Veleta sardines, etc. Not sure about a lot of the offers since I generally do not buy PN or chard. CC should be safe based on pre-lim review.
@jmdavidson1 BD does seem to be PN and chard heavy . I wonder why
Lots of interesting offers, but I have to admit, the number of hard-to-distinguish wineries has increased. Not sure how much I’m going to spend here, but that’s ok since I need to pay for child care
@klezman Flannery; ouch!
@rjquillin Yeah, how much did you buy? I’m thinking about it right now while I’m also trying to do some work.
@klezman @rjquillin is flannery really that good?
@klezman $408
@rjquillin I got a few hangers, ribs, a porterhouse, and a picanha. Too much $, but it looks like I’m not aging a whole rib primal this year because Costco doesn’t appear to be getting them in.
@losthighwayz @rjquillin if you like dry aged beef, then Flannery is an excellent purveyor. When they have sales on the pricing can also be quite good.
@klezman @rjquillin
Slackers I got 10 hangers 3 porterhouse and 3 rib eyes. I seem to eat those hangers like they are free
@rjquillin @ScottW58 Your childcare expenses are over…
@klezman @rjquillin
Meh excuses excuses
@klezman @ScottW58
Ok, so I was light on the hangers…
2 California Reserve Picanha, 5lbs
6 Midwestern Hanger Steak
2 California Reserve “Rudd” Steak 16oz
1 California Reserve Porterhouse Steak 24oz
@klezman @rjquillin
Nice work!
@rjquillin @ScottW58 I went a little lighter:
4 hanger
4 rib steaks, 2 each 12 and 16 oz
1 picanha
1 34 oz porterhouse
@klezman @rjquillin @ScottW58
I finally gave Flannery Steaks a try…
1 California Reserve Picanha, 5lbs
3 Midwestern Hanger Steak
2 California Reserve “Rudd” Steak 16oz
Any other deals? Hah, been saving up for today, must make it worth it!
@klezman @ScottW58 @TechnoViking You’re gonna regret only 3 hangers…
@klezman @rjquillin @ScottW58 @TechnoViking Flannery, doing ribeye and hangers.
@klezman @rjquillin @ScottW58 it is likely I wish I had bought more later, but theres a hurricane of wine I have to decide on. No room for Sandler wines sadly… I’m up for more suggestions from all, as I am a Newb.
@klezman @rjquillin @TechnoViking
What kind of wines do you like?
@klezman @rjquillin @ScottW58 old world, dry, reds, Italian and French inspired. I folllow the palate of you 3 for sure! Hoping for some whites or lighter style that won’t disappoint. I caught the tail end of BDX last year, just trying not to miss out. #FOMO

@klezman @rjquillin @TechnoViking
Yes buy them up I will pay you later Goodfellow pinots are killer!
@klezman @ScottW58 @TechnoViking
Sounds good, I’ll help a bit too.
@rjquillin @ScottW58
OK, case ordered (well, requested). That means I’m definitely done for the day, just shy of 3 cases.
4 each unless I hear otherwise.
@klezman @rjquillin
Yes! I’ll take four
@kaolis @klezman @rjquillin @ScottW58 Flannery just came in, that was fast! How long do they hold up in the fridge after shipment? Im not off till Sunday and was hoping I wouldn’t have to freeze much.

I saw a few interesting newbies like Scherrer and Say When
@losthighwayz
Scherrer won the blind zin tasting at your place so many years ago
Ok…I’ll admit that I’ve never participated in Berserker Day.
How can I see the list of participants?
@karenhynes
You can look and or buy for free tomorrow! the official day.
Took a flyer on a wilde farm mixed case (syrah and red blend)
Likely going in on DV8 reds 6 pack and a case of the Stipa Rose from Say When
Was looking for Johan and/or Art+Science Cider, but they didn’t participate. Ended up getting the 5’er of Sabelli-Frisch.
I could probably stand to get more Grassl glasses, but… who knows.
@radiolysis I bit on the Sabelli-Frisch as well. That was it for this year. I was eyeing both of Paetra’s offers, but with nobody to split with it wasn’t happening.
@InFrom @radiolysis Paetra’s wine is tasty, but the shipping completely killed the deal for me. K&L gets them in from time to time at the same or better price.
who should i reach out to that’s on berzerkers day for a possible casemates? gourmet for that matter.
@Winedavid49
I have Todd@wineberserkers.com as an email address. Or I guess register and pm him.
@ScottW58 @Winedavid49 I think WD means wineries…

Flannery - Hangers, Ribeyes , Pichanas
Veleta - Oil, Tuna, Paella Kit
Repour
Di Costanzo Farella Cab Sauv vertical
Bevela - Syrah, Teroldego
Riverain - Syrah
Virage - Red case of mini bottles
@rc70 Completely different from my choices aside from Flannery! I nearly bit on the Virage, but instead that went to a split case of Berserker Cuvee Pinot from Goodfellow.
I got:
Cabot Syrah

Yeah I was tapped out for the offer today they really are good tho.
I was good this year, just a futures 4-pack from Sandler.
@chipgreen I wanted to be good, but had to reload on Fanny Beck, Sandler & Longplay and went for some Scherrer Zins. Now I know what overflow really means!
@winedavid49 @pjmartin
Love Longplay! Love to support Todd. Have bought a few club member offers. Would be great to see a offering here on casemates!
Grabbed a case of ISA. 18 cans of sardines…yumm. A 6 bottle vertical from Calluna Vyds. Minor cc damage.
@jmdavidson1
Man I wanted that Calluna too, some day
It looked really interesting and somewhat affordable.
Fogline Zin
Stellareese Grenache
Sabelli-Frisch (as @klezman said, how could you not…)
Flannery Hangers, NY strips & a top sirloin cap
Was tempted to get more Castelli Nebbiolo, but had to abide by the $$ limit set going in. On the other hand - sardines, hmmm.
what sardines were they?
@Winedavid49 Veleta small sardines from Gourmet of Spain. Great company.
@Winedavid49 That’s the woman named Nola whom I referred to above.
So this is still going on for some producers. I’m thinking about buying the Cabot aged Syrah 6pack @150. Anyone tried these before?
@hscottk
Yes great stuff!
@hscottk @ScottW58
Yup, concur. Cabot is solid.
@hscottk @rjquillin @ScottW58 Yes, buy it. I’ve done so in past years. This time I went for the young Syrah pack that I won’t touch for at least 5 years.
@hscottk @klezman @rjquillin @ScottW58

@bolligra @rc70 Anybody still waiting to receive their wine from Cabot from their Beserkerday offer?
@bolligra @ctmariner @rc70
Yes although I did get a shipping warning email a day or two ago
@bolligra @ctmariner @rc70 @ScottW58 Ditto
Winebeserkers running a mini Beserker Day for Quarantine Relief
@ctmariner
I did cave on some JB Neufeld cabs been wanting to try those and wth support the little guys
