Cellar Tracker Fun!
2First off if you’re not using the new Cellar Tracker no need to read any further, sorry you cannot do it in the old model Fun or scary i’m not sure yet?! So I go into Cellar Tracker and under “My Cellar” then “My Reports” I click on my purchases over time, holy god it lists everything I have bought by month/quarter/year/prices and totals (clearly I have a problem). Actual fun was going to consumption over time and seeing all the bottles I drank, it sure has changed over the years for the better imho
So if you’re using Cellar Tracker run some reports (tons to choose from) it can be fun and terrifying.

Are you trying to kill rjq?
@jmdavidson1 If only I could transfer them and clean up a bit, you’d all have expanded cellars.
Oh, wait; that wasn’t addressed to me.
Apologies.
@jmdavidson1 @rjquillen
Ha! no not my intention but I will admit that while I was playing I did think that if I had rjq’s cellar and did this there would be no words that could talk me off the ledge just kidding rj…kind of
I’ve been using that report functionality for a while now to see how my purchasing and consumption pace each other. Or more accurately, how terribly my purchasing is outpacing my consumption. This year’s goal is to have consumption outpace purchasing!
@klezman Seconded!
@klezman That has been my goal 3 years running. Last year was my first time succeeding. Yay for me. Good luck to others.
@klezman Not gonna happen. Nope nope nope.
Yep. Pretty awesome. And scary!!!
When we were kids, we used to swap/trade baseball cards. Too bad his can’t translate into wines, as in being a cool tool for swapping wines. I look at your list, you look at mine and we trade wines. Of course, shipping laws between states may make that impossible.
@ScottW58 You mean like this and this?
@chipgreen Wow, that’s a little scary, even with my comparatively small cellar.
@chipgreen
Yeah yeah I knew but the new is much prettier, and i’m trying to help you old frackers who are living in the past
@ScottW58 Haha, I have actually been using the new version for about a month now (ever since you posted a warning that it may be going away, was that also misdirection hmmm? ) but I do get frustrated with it at times. I’ve always liked the look of it better than the old CT but it takes multiple clicks to drill down to info that used to be all on one page.
I have used Reports occasionally in the past and am happy that you posted about them as they are probably one of the more under used and under appreciated features of CT.
@chipgreen
Yes! and bulk loading might be good for you too not misdirection he did say the old won’t last too much longer.
When woot got bought I stopped using cellatracker as much. Did they ever implement reliable barcode scanning? I’d like to get back into it, but manually adding bottles was such a pain
@rmm989 @ilCesare 's easy links are too arduous to use?
Are you referring to UPC bar coding?
A good portion of what we get here, and got on ww, lacked a UPC code. Guess you’ll have to endure a bit of pain if you’re to use CT.
@rjquillin things purchased here were never the problem. Add it, set it pending delivery, and forget about it. Adding a couple hundred bottles by searching and then trying to figure out if they had the correct vintage, appellation, etc, was always a pain. When I stopped using it they were making changes to make adding things easier, but I never went to see
@rmm989 I use CellarTracker’s app to scan labels, not UPC codes. Works great. Not sure what your specific use-case is though, so maybe that isn’t what you need/want.
@vaaccess That wasn’t there by the time I stopped using it, does it work well? Sounds perfect.
@rmm989 @vaaccess except for when there are multiple and/or errant entries.
@rjquillin @rmm989 indeed.
@rmm989 yes. I find that it works better than I expected it to, the search by label picture I mean. When I’m out shopping I use it exclusively now.
