Discord Interest?
2For those what may be interested in using Discord for more casemates coordinations (not requiring whispers) or larger maneuvering of individuals and locations, or heck even future gatherings, let me know! Threw together a yet-to-be-finished ‘mates Discord channel and any interest in joining or helping manage it would be wonderful.

Sorry folks, slept in a bit this morning.
That one was all over the place.
@rjquillin When “sleeping in” means 7:00…
@InFrom @mark_l
Well, it’s two+ hours later than usual.
I propose that Casemates pay a portion of the $120,000 Kickstarter money to bunnymasseuse for creating site tools on their behalf.
@chipgreen lol, I agree. And RJQ for his splitting spreadsheet.
It seems casemates is very happy to do the part they already excel at which is finding the deals, selling the deals and shipping the deals. Finding a programmer to add the tools seems to be long over due. Another reason why I refuse to kickstart anything (this site included). There is no accountability comparable to actually investing and subsequently owning a portion of a business.
@chipgreen @CorTot Yeah, I can see that stance. But I’ve been super happy with the Misen kitchen stuff I’ve backed on kickstarter. The winesaver thing, too.
It still seems that the issue is the Mediocre forum software is required to be used here, and the Mediocre mothership seems to have no interest in making it good for this site/community. I don’t know how much say WD has in it. Not saying that’s the right answer, but that’s my take after seeing all this back and forth for the last few years.
@CorTot @klezman
I doubt that WD has much say in how Mediocre spends their money. He was shorted just like the rest of us afa site tools. They could only help to enhance sales volume.
@chipgreen @CorTot Yup, totally agreed.
More information, please…
@bunnymasseuse @rpm
Yes, this…
@rjquillin @rpm For those old enough to remember mIRC and old HTML chat rooms (geocities anyone?), this is the newest version of that if I had to compare it to something in the past. Mobile use likely more often than laptop use but both work, individual notifications as well as direct chats & group chats. You can disable push notifications to your phone, but if needed you can use it to directly video chat with folks as a group (I haven’t set it up with tight controls yet to finish my WIP). Originally thought it would make messaging easier for swapping bottles or figuring out who gets what, got a bit twisted myself with some case splits here lately and that made it tougher than it needed to be. Most folks use it for gaming events, but seeing it more now paired with Twitch too.
@bunnymasseuse @rjquillin - didn’t do either, but something that can work or phone/ipad/laptop to coord etc. might be interesting. We’re all over the country, but who knows once things get a bit more normalized…
@rjquillin @rpm https://discord.com/ If you download it let me know, I’ll invite you to the WIP, you can see what I’ve started, but a long way to go to make it as effective as we’d like of course.
@bunnymasseuse you’re way smart
@kitkat34 Just trying to help facilitate better communication with fellow casemates!
@bunnymasseuse I’ve briefly used discord, but to me it’s just another account I need somewhere, with something to monitor, and another app on my phone.
I’d rather they significantly improved the forum software here.
Then again, it’d be nice to have some remote gatherings. Not that it would require new software. I have a paid zoom account…
@klezman no disagreement, but my ability to keep track of whispers and who I’m splitting with had become hard to manage, if it’s just me than I will acknowledge that I’m falling behind but also not sure in the only one lacking in my tracking of commitments and meetings. Hate to add more to the plate but also not seeing activity to improve so… either I deal with the status quo or I own to try to do something better on my own. No reason to b*tch if I’m not willing to offer a counter improvement…
@bunnymasseuse @klezman @chipgreen
Well, it was strongly suggested we’d have tools.
Just sayin’
@chipgreen @klezman @rjquillin Maybe it’s just user error but being a long standing Ww’r and gatherings attendee even I’m having some challenges keeping my splits in order. I’m ok if someone tells me it’s a personal challenge only…
@bunnymasseuse @chipgreen @rjquillin keeping track of splits is hard, yes. Ron and I each use spreadsheets, although formatted differently. I keep a tab for incoming and a tab for outgoing with a section for each person and their allocation. I’ve found the trick is to write things down as soon as they’re set, otherwise I forget. Same thing with adding to cellar tracker - everything is added as soon as I get the confirmation.
No. Don’t need another app, another account, another password…
