Help Plan Our Central Coast Mini Adventure
2Howdy y’all! The family will be heading up to the central coast next weekend for a quick getaway (Friday-Sunday). Wife, our 1 y/o, and myself. Homebase will be Lompoc.
Any suggestions on a must-visit wine tasting room, must eat barbecue or other food, and or must do must see attraction?
Will probably grab some food in Santa Maria check out solvang, buellton, we honestly don’t really have a plan. We’re happy to drive 45 minutes to an hour in any direction.
Looking forward to any fun suggestions and or just hearing about some of your favorite things in that part of the world.
Cheers!

Reach out to me directly at larry@tercerowines.com and let’s make it happen. Take a day trip out to Jalama Beach and go to the Jalama Grill - best burgers in SBC. Best BBQ - go to the Hitching Post. There is good thai in Lompoc as well. In terms of wineries to hit there, consider going to Kessler-Haak, Tyler, Domaine de la Cote, Montemar, Sanford. Head over to Buellton and eat at Industrial Eats. Come visit me in Los Olivos as well!
@tercerowines geez. Maybe I need to take that trip too. Sounds like a blast.
@tercerowines wow thanks so much!! Sounds like a plan!
@tercerowines
yeah, been awhile
how are things going on re-opening up there?
@Cerridwyn it’s all good; tasting rooms are all open outside and a numbet of new restaurants have opened; come on up!!!
@tercerowines was AWESOME
WORKER BEES! HERCULES! TURKEY GREASE! AWESOME!
@connorbush so much fun you, your wife and your little sun and pouring my wines for you! Thanks for taking the time and I hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful as well! Cheers
We’re at E11even by Andrew Murray and it’s great!
You’d best give @TerceroWines a visit…
@klezman amen. Coworker really liked it there two years back.
@klezman added to the list! They are about 28 miles away from our home base, not bad at all!
@connorbush I’ve done a Lompoc/Los Olivos single day trip from LA, so don’t sweat it. There’s wineries to stop at almost the whole way along the highway, too.
Once you’re in Los Olivos, you could also stop at Larner, Stolpman, and many others. Liquid Farm has nice Chardonnay. Agreed with Larry’s suggestion of Kessler-Haak. I also quite enjoyed some of the wines from Buttonwood.
As for a day in Lompoc, you don’t even need to leave the wine ghetto if you don’t want to. Just be careful not to get toooo trashed.
@connorbush @klezman Peter Stolpman has become a Casemates fan. and so has Andrew Murray. Mention Casemates and i bet they’ll grease some things. in fact, ping me when you are close to going and i’ll see what i can do. Tercero is a no brainer (albiet a bit expensive).
@klezman @Winedavid49 thanks so much!! Heading out this coming Friday!
Flying Goat Cellars is in Lompoc, if you like bubbles.
@chipgreen 2 miles from our hotel! Sold!!
Pea Soup Anderson’s
@FritzCat always! It’s tradition!
@connorbush @FritzCat never miss it! but heard it’s for sale.
I’m jealous. We contemplated doing a long weekend in Solvang, but that fizzled when we decided to get a dog instead.
I haven’t been up that way in a decade, so i don’t have much to suggest, other than to say have a blast!
@radiolysis we originally had booked a place to stay in downtown solvang but after studying all there is to do up there, we relocated to lompoc as home base. Solvang is kind of like a half day adventure if memory serves but there’s just so much to do in the surrounding areas. I’m just a big fan of being in the Central Coast so beautiful. Can’t wait. Hopefully you can make it out there soon a ton of Airbnb I saw are dog friendly.
