So I was selected to rat this wine. My wife and I had another couple over to taste it. We had our first glasses right after opening (no decant) and the second glasses around two hours later with food.
Overall, to get straight to the point, the general consensus was that it was an okay pizza wine or house red. It definitely went better with food (we had grilled chicken kebabs). We estimated the original price at $15-20 and the casemates price at $8-10 but said we probably wouldnāt be purchasing it at the discounted price (just our opinion).
Color: see photo, seemed to be a little lighter cranberry color
Smell: We got some of the berry but mainly stone fruit- a little cherry and mostly plum.
Taste/Finish: we arenāt really professionals if you havenāt noticed yet, but I would say the major taste consensus was stone fruit-plum/cherry, definitely had some tannins but there was not really an enjoyable finish. It was mainly a drier/acidic/alcohol finish? Not sure if that explains it well. Overall, okay pizza wine was mentioned several times.
My 2 cents but first full disclosure: Iāve watched all the Arrow episodes and am sorry the series is soon to end. Iāve even visited their tasting room in Walla Walla (ironic that this wine is from CA). But this is a gimmick wine from a gimmick winery. Promoting all the celebs who are winemakers for a day insults the many skilled and hardworking people who devote their lives to producing the best wines they can. There are too many great Washington wineries to even consider this offer.
@CruelMelody@DanNC There is no point in knocking this operation, but I did find it particularly interesting that the writeup has:
Nocking Point Wines creates its collections with tastemakers and celebrities who love wine . . . Renowned for its artistic collaborations, Nocking Point always blends an entertaining story behind each wineās journey.
And yet there wasnāt a single mention of this blendās celebrity artistic collaborator or special journey.
@CruelMelody@DanNC@ttboy23
Of the ātastemakers and celebritiesā they mention in the write-up, I only know (somewhat vaguely) who two of them are. I guess Iām officially out of touch.
Iām posting this from the separate topic by @nccrocker
Was very excited to try this one, because I love a good red blend. We opened it at our local wood-fired pizza place. On the nose, I got a bit of dark fruit, plum, cocoa. The palate was a bit tight at first. Slightly unripened blackberry and slightly unsweet plum. But by the time the pizza came and it opened up, it was pretty tasty. It softened out a bit, and it goes very well with margharita pizza with chicken and spinach! Overall, not bad! Would drink again!

This is an uber delicious and super fruity blend of Syrah and Zinfandel, appropriately called āIām A Redā¦Duhā. From Geyserville, CA, this wine was made to be a major crowd pleaser ā full of brambly red fruit flavors, with solid structure and noticeable but integrated tannin.

Founded by Stephen Amell (ARROW) and Andrew Harding (MTV), Nocking Point Wines creates its collections with tastemakers and celebrities who love wine, such as Jason Momoa, Jonathan Bennett, Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum, Aisha Tyler, Stassi Schroeder, Katie Maloney, and Kristen Doute. Renowned for its artistic collaborations, Nocking Point always blends an entertaining story behind each wineās journey.
The idea for the winery first began in May of 2012 when Stephen and Andrew embarked on a road trip from LA to Oakland to watch a Blue Jays game for Stephenās birthday. Three hours into the trip Andrew, who had grown up in wine country, easily convinced Stephen ā who had never been to a wine region before ā to make a quick stop in Paso Robles to taste some wine. Stephenās first-ever wine country pit-stop ended turning into a 48-hour wine bender that included visiting more than a dozen wineries, making a bunch of new friends in the local wine business, and eventually wrapping up at a dock-side party on a private lake built smack-dab in the center of picturesque, rolling vineyards. As they drove away from Paso, heading on to Oakland, Stephen looked over at Andrew and asked, āHey man, how do we do this ALL THE TIME?ā. The rest of the road trip and the next few months became an exciting brainstorm about a new, unique kind of winery and the concept for Nocking Point was born.
Fast forward 5 years and this little wine venture has allowed the founders to connect with hundreds of thousands of fans and wine drinkers to cultivate a crazy-loyal wine club community that they are more than proud of. The two guys honestly didnāt know if anyone would care about a TV superhero and his good buddy making great wines out of a smaller wine region in the Northwest. Well, it turns out they do and for that they couldnāt be more proud or more appreciative of everyone who has supported them from day one.
In addition to NP, the founders are up to other stuff too. Andrew has worked in the entertainment media space for years and co-founded a music licensing technology company ā SourceAudio.com ā working with many of the biggest music, production, and broadcast companies in the world. And, of course Stephen has gotten to play a DC Comic superhero ā The Green Arrow ā for 6+ seasons with much more to comeā¦

@kray05 Thanks for the white background on the glass shots.
@kray05 Either both of your dogs got some in their water dish and did not enjoy, or they did not get any and are looking at your condescendingly.
Thanks for report!
