Onesta Grenache Blanc captures the truth of each vintage, uniting the vines, the land, Mother Nature and maturation. This Grenache Blanc is bursting with aromas of white flowers, Meyer lemon, and juicy white peach. A bright and refreshing white wine, with complex layers of sea mist and minerality.
Food Pairings: oysters or crudo/ceviche course, arugula & peach salad, scallops or poached fish with Beurre Blanc sauce.
Vintage and Winemaker Notes
Clay Station Vineyard, Lodi CA, North East Lodi - soils have a deep amber hue, indicating mineral content is high. Sustainably farmed by Markus Bokisch, the vine canopy provides a perfect shaded region for ripening clusters and retaining acidity.
With all Onesta wines, Jillian showcases what Lodi can offer; bright, balanced, fruit forward wines with a north coast profile. 100% Grenache Blanc whole cluster pressed for gentle handling. Cold fermentation in stainless steel retains the fresh tropical fruit flavors while sur lie aging for 6 months gives the wine a richness on the palate.

Jillian found her passion for wine while studying neurobiology at UC Davis. Home brewing introduced her to the magic of fermentation, and after taking the āIntroductory to Winemakingā class at UC Davis, she quickly switched her major to Viticulture and Enology. She graduated with her degree in 2001 and soon thereafter found herself as an intern at the famous Bonny Doon Winery.
Her desire to learn more about winemaking has taken her around the globe. To gain essential winemaking experience in a short time, Jillian traveled to the southern hemisphere to work an additional harvest each year. For three years she traveled south to learn how to work with different varieties and observe different winemaking styles. She did internships in McLaren Vale (South Australia), Margaret River (Western Australia), and Stellenbosch (South Africa).
Syrah quickly became her deepest passion and she returned to Bonny Doon as Associate Winemaker in 2005, focusing her talents on the Rhone varieties that the Dooner is known for. She played a major role in the transition to biodynamic winemaking at Bonny Doon. Now a truly seasoned winemaker, Jillian has started her own passion project, Onesta. Her artistic expression is manifested in her wines. Jillianās wines speak the truth of each growing season and each vintage is a new adventure for her, riding the waves of Mother Nature. Her promise to herself and her customers is to deliver wines with personality and depth every year. Jillianās wines are made with passion and love, just like she lives her life. Her hope is that every sip of Onesta will ignite the soul with passion and enthusiasm for living life to the fullest.

Iām drinking a glass of the farmstrong Grenache blanc blend right now, and really liking it. Definitely getting the stone fruit, and a bit of lemon. I am digging the oak on the finish though, wondering how this one compares!
I picked up a case of the 2014 the last time it was here (which I picked up because of the previous offering from this winery). Definitely a solid wine, and itās $5 cheaper a case!
I only bought 4 bottles of this the last time it was offered, not making the same mistake again, in for a case, willing to share!!

@Onesta I see this 2015 (4 years after) vintage is the current one for sale at the Onesta site. Is the Onesta GB better after a couple years in the bottle? Will this remain dandy for another couple years?
I missed the 2014 offer but I wonāt let that happen with the 2015. Jillian is an incredibly talented winemaker who works with some of the most interesting vineyards in the state. How can you go wrong? Iāve tasted all her wines and they are fabulous!
I was hoping I wasnāt the only labrat on this as I knew Iād be late. Burned my tongue a bit Monday combined with some allergies left me with dull taste buds. Iām a bit better today so Iām here to give you my shot.
I donāt drink much whiteā¦In fact, the only whiteās I have in the house is bubbly (almost all iron horse). I like white just fine, I just donāt love it.
Iāve never had a Grenache Blanc so I had no idea what to expect.
The color is a lovely pale golden straw color.
The first aroma I notice is green apples, lemon, and a bit of minerals. I never did smell the white peach or any sort of peach.
The flavor is lovely (to me) and a bit more complex than I expected. I get fruit, still mostly apple, with a hint of citrus, but something else. Something that balances the sweet and tones it down a bit. Mineral? Like a rock but not a dirty one.
I really like this white. It has some texture to it and a medium finish that is pleasant. Itās sweet without being overly sweet. It feels balanced and while not quite what Iād call complex, itās closer to complex than I expect from a white. Layers, I think the description says.
Overall, itās a nice solid white and Iāll actually be going for some of this. It feels like a white I would like in the winter as much as the summer. Usually I think of whites as a summer wine.
@airynne Thanks for good review. In a way itās better that you are someone who ādoesnāt drink much whiteā and you got to experience it from that perspective and write about it. But it confirms how I hoped it would be. Makes me glad I ordered that case this AM.
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?

The new deals are always posted at 12:00 am Eastern time M, W, F, Sat. I am kind of a night owl so am usually up anyway. Thankfully the deals start an hour earlier than they did on wine.woot or I probably wouldnāt be doing it.
I have always appreciated Cesareās posts both there and here but definitely have a newfound appreciation for his consistent timeliness!
I waffled on this for a while as I am not a huge white drinker, but like fresh seafood and occasional summer sipper. Airynneās rattage and the vintnerās video pushed me over the edge, lol! In for a case!

@CruelMelody Farmstrong is solid. Drinks like a $20-$25 bottle. Wish I wouldve bought more. I think its a blend

An unusual white varietal and the ties to Bonny Doon? And a good price. Cannot resist.

If this wine is half as good as the Cinsaut that they make, Iām going to wish I ordered two cases.
@nostrom0 That Cinsaut is so good! I love this Grenache Blanc, as well.

@PatrickKarcher We think so, weāre still enjoying our little stash of the '14
@PatrickKarcher yes it will! The acid is high and the stone fruit characters continue to develop as the wine ages in bottle.

To any NOVA casemates, I would love some of these (2-6), but I canāt make the order. If you need one more casemates buddy to be in, Iām in.
@PatrickKarcher Sorry, Iām out of physical storage, I could only go in for 2-3.
@PatrickKarcher I can order,in for 4.
Waitā¦whereās @chipgreen? Iām going to have to do my own MATH?!! What theā¦lol.
@ttboy23
Sorry, I conked out early last night. Meant to do it before work this morning and totally forgot. Better late than never post below.
@chipgreen just making sure youāre OK

Absolutely loved the Cinsaut, so I am giving this a try. I could part with a few in the Columbus area.

@chipgreen So you made people do their own math all day? BTW how do you usually know to always be awake when the new deal is posted?

Have an overabundance of red in my cellar, but low and whites ā not acceptable with summer coming. I am in for a case.
