An old “wine guy” at Trader Joe’s once insisted on pairing their lambrusco with buttered popcorn. I tried it once (with a movie at home with my wife and one of our daughters) and it was good.
My wife has buttered popcorn and red wine at least 1X a week. I do notice that she does not drink wine until the popcorn is mostly gone. I do not care for popcorn.
I was on a popcorn+truffle oil/salt kick with tempranillo for a while. Made quite a nice movie snack or light dinner along with a meat/cheese plate. I’m not a big buttered popcorn fan, not sure I would pair that with wine.
Popcorn and bubbles…yum!!!
@karenhynes are you familiar w/ Bubbles? http://www.rhinegeist.com/ciders/

@eric_w wow, that sounds really good. How do you do that? Do you pop the popcorn with a little truffle oil or do you add it afterwards??
@moonhat I use one of these to pop in the microwave (https://www.amazon.com/Nordic-Ware-Microwave-Popcorn-Popper/dp/B00004W4UP?th=1) and then add oil and salt afterwards. Takes a few tries to get the timing right with your microwave but does a pretty decent job without burning.
