Another partial lab report, full to come later today
Same situation as above. Launch pushed up with notice as the bottle was a couple hundred miles away -not part of the travel wine . Asked SWMBO to do the early duty. Heard back ‘ this is too much pressure!’ Got this from her: Smells good, nice color, nice taste. I like it.
After 8 hours on the road, popped open the vacuvin and poured a small sip. Nice blackberry and cassis aromas, typical for a Cabernet with a few bottle years, pleasant, with some hints of earth or maybe leather. Great mouthfeel with no harsh edges at all. The flavors match the nose and this is drinking really well. Decent amount of acid but haven’t got to food yet. Set the glass aside to quickly cut the lawn (been gone all week and things are growing fast in NE Ohio). When I returned, not a lot of change (~1 hr) picked up some cedar but that may be from brushing against the shrubs . But still drinking nicely.
Nothing overly complex here but for the case price seems like a good to great deal. No comparison to the freshly opened tastes but it has held up well overnight on the counter. Seems like it has some life yet so I wouldn’t rush to drink them upon receipt.
I bought a case, it hit the tastebuds of dear wife and I like it especially for the price. Splitting some with a friend but might be able to part with up to four more
I received this bottle last week, and the initial email showed a different launch date. I missed the updated email saying that the sale had been pushed to tonight.
I was caught off guard and had nothing planned but then saw the bottle at rollover so I quickly opened it to have a sample. I’ve been fighting allergies for the last few days, so my schnauzer has not been working as I would like.
Initial aroma on the open is light alcohol and some fruitiness. Can’t quite pick out the specifics. Initial taste is good. It is a little bit sharp, but has a nice clean finish. It certainly tastes like a good cabernet sauvignon. I was able to pick up a few hints of chocolate aroma. I pulled out some sharp cheddar cheese and some olives, and it certainly pairs nicely with those. After a few minutes in the glass, I was able to see some nice thin legs. I will cork the bottle and taste it again tomorrow. The alcohol aroma has already diminished even after just a few minutes in the glass so tomorrow should be better. The case price has me thinking I will probably get some. I like it. I did a quick Google search and it looks like back in September of last year, the six pack was available for just a little bit less on reverse wine snob. Thanks again for the opportunity hopefully tomorrow my nose is a bit more open.
2012 Santa Rita Medalla Real Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes
The 2012 Santa Rita Medalla Real Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is now a mature wine after 7 years in the bottle. The nose is rich and full of roasted fruits, dried figs and some soft spice notes. The wine has a sweet attack and a wonderful length. The mouth has intense rounded ripe tannins that create the prominent backbone that leads the wine into a long creamy dark fruit finish.
Medalla Real was born in 1983 in honor of Francisco García Huidobro, ancestor to the founding family of Viña Santa Rita and Marqués de Casa Real, who established the first Mint ($) in Chile. To commemorate the Bicentennial of this event, a medal was designed with his profile and the symbol of the Spanish royal crown.
In 1987, before the Maipo Valley gained global recognition, a bottle of the 1984 vintage of Medalla Real Cabernet Sauvignon changed the history of Chilean wine. Defeating over 35 participants, including wines from France, Spain and California’s Napa Valley, Medalla Real became the first Chilean wine to win the Paris Wine Olympics and obtain the gold medal. This recognition, organized by the French food and wine magazine, Gault-Millau, helped position Chile internationally as a producer of high-quality wines, surpassing iconic wine production countries from the Old World. It also showcased the Maipo Valley as an area of excellence for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon.
This is a Cabernet Sauvignon by winemaker Sebastián Labbé, who produces wine that tends to show the riper side of this variety from the Maipo Valley. The Medalla Real Gold Medal Cabernet Sauvignon commemorates the history of its ancestors by capturing the finest characteristics of the Maipo Valley Terroir.
Reviews
“Curious aromas of spice, leather, licorice and mint. Full to medium body, fine tannins and plenty of chocolate, toasted oak and fruit, yet very subtle and engaging. Drink now.” ~ 91 Points, James Suckling
Viña Santa Rita was founded in 1880 by Don Domingo Fernández Concha, a leading businessman and public figure of the time. Don Domingo brought the finest French grape varieties to the rich soils of the Maipo Valley, together with specialized equipment and a team of top winemakers from France. This brought techniques that were hitherto unknown in Chile, changing the way in which wines were made in the country and bringing spectacular results.
For more than 135 years, Santa Rita has worked ceaselessly to craft fine wines, earning it vast experience that shines through in the quality of its products - quality that has been upheld over the decades, and will carry on delighting wine lovers in every corner of the world.

@jaybird case secured.
@jaybird Do you think this wine will hold? James Suckling says drink now but I don’t think I want to drink 6 bottles in a row.
@SoSmellyAir Sorry, I don’t have the knowledge to make that kind of guess. It is certainly good now.

Rats?
Could be interesting $11/btl, and CT notes and pricing generally approve; fwiw.
