Shipping Notifications
2There was a post last week in the InZinerator thread about the wine arriving without any email shipment notification. Same thing happened to me this morning, when the FedEx guy showed up at my door with a Casemates order, while I was not home. Fortunately, my wife was home to accept the delivery.
Wondering if these are a couple of isolated cases (pun intended) or has something changed in the shipping process and others are having the same experience?

Honestly it’s not that important to me when the wine leaves WCC – I just want to know when the tracking number goes live.
Yeah, those after-the-fact emails, “Rejoice”, or whatever they say (I think that’s what Woot uses) are mostly redundant.
Meanwhile, I see my vino got to NJ this evening, so I guess I’ll be awash in whites by tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully I’ll have some white inside me by tomorrow evening!
Okay, I just got two emails, one for notification that I’d purchased, and one for notification that it shipped. Since I’ve already gone through not one, but TWO bottles, I’m not that impressed. I’d like to see a staff response, on this thread, apologizing, and assuring us that they’ve discovered the problem, and fixed it.
I live in Washington state wine country. I can easily drive to multiple places, and pick up excellent wine from local wineries. Casemates has been fun and interesting, introducing me to wines I might not otherwise have known about, and providing me the opportunity to refresh acquaintance with some excellent wine makers.
I’d like to start buying again, but am going to wait it out until I see that others are getting notifications.
I also gently point out that there has been not one word from anyone on staff about this.
Hey, some folks are noticing shipping notification emails from the last week or so coming in.
Per one of our devs:
"Starting around 8/27-8/28 there was a problem with the process that triggers order-delivered and order-shipped emails.
We just resuscitated it, so it’s plowing through the emails it should have sent since then. There will probably be a few more folks getting old/expired shipped or delivered messages.
Going forward, things should be caught up over the next 12 hours or so. After that, order-delivered and order-shipped emails should be going out in a much more timely fashion."
@ThomasF If anyone ran into any issues picking up/receiving their shipments, please write in to support through the site’s support form and we’ll sort things out.
@ThomasF Handful of emails hit the inbox today. Thanks for checking into this!
@ThomasF I can’t complain of any problems receiving the shipments, but I’m yet to receive any kind of tracking email for any wine I’ve ordered on this site while summer shipping has been in effect this year. Just as a point of information.
@InFrom If you haven’t been getting any emails even before the service outage, would recommend checking Promotions tabs or other email folders they might’ve gotten sorted into. If they weren’t there, I’d check with the email service provider you use. Have had some weird cases with our other sites where the service isn’t letting some of our emails through. All else fails, support ticket away!
@ThomasF Well, I do get the emails announcing new sales, or telling when someone has mentioned me in a post. It’s just the tracking emails I haven’t been getting. As I said, this has been going on all summer, since summer shipping was implemented. For that reason, I’m pretty sure it isn’t related to the outage. It happened in all of July, all of August, and now in September as well.
I looked at all the folders in my Yahoo mail, and I don’t see anything lurking.
This has totally been my experience this year. All of my cases have been with standard, summer shipping. Not once have I gotten a FedEx notice when the package transferred from the refrigerated truck to FedEx. The only way I knew was by checking frequently to see if any of my orders had achieved “shipped” status. In fact, writing this prompted me to look at my orders, and I see that two of them got to FedEx in St. Louis yesterday afternoon, and headed out in the wee hours of this morning. No emails resulted.
Yes, I know there are workarounds, but shouldn’t it just be happening automatically?
@InFrom
You shouldn’t have to wait for the handoff to FedEx for a shipping email. The shipping email should go out the same day your wine leaves Casemates/WCC. Actually, as soon as a label is generated which may be the day before it starts its journey.
The notification when FedEx takes over the package is on them (FedEx). Sad that both WCC and FedEx seem to be dropping the ball for you, assuming that you are signed up with FedEx for notifications.
I don’t even look for Casemates emails anymore. I rely solely on FedEx to text me when the package is coming and I guess I have been lucky because they haven’t missed yet. The annoying part for me is that WCC seems to think that I do need an email after my wine has been delivered to let me know I got it. “Your wine has been delivered!”. No shit, really?
@chipgreen @InFrom FedEx delivery manager it is then and preferences have been updated to get all notifications for any shipment. With another Casemates order processing (label created) I’ll see how that goes…
I ship to my local Fedex office but this prompted me to check the order status on the Casemates website and guess what? I have a case of Mendo Blendo waiting for me at the Fedex office - it was delivered yesterday so heading over there now! No emails received at all on tracking this shipment. This has only happened once before but I will check more regularly now!
@ctmariner I just got a notification email saying that my wine had shipped - received a day after I picked up the wine from Fedex!
Am I the only one who got all of their shipping and delivery emails for the last month sent at the same time? I got them all today for some reason, both the “it’s been shipped” and “it’s been delivered”. I’m wondering if they didn’t flush something out that was blocked.
@winedavid49
You’re again shipping to SoCal on a Thursday?
That means it’s going to sit around somewhere over the weekend…
Grumph
@rjquillin Not if it’s FedEx Home…
@klezman @rjquillin WS case shipping started Thursday here, for the first time it says being delivered on Sunday. I think I read somewhere during holiday time and in 2021 FedEx will be delivering 7 days a week for now on. New to me…
@winedavid49 @klezman @TechnoViking All well and fine, but my delivery is shown scheduled for Tuesday so it will be sitting around in 33~34 temps (low 90’s F) over the weekend and Monday. Ship Monday, deliver Wednesday and it sees 15~24 in SoCal.
