TASTING NOTES: “Subtle notes of pomegranate, raspberries, watermelon and candy floss, freshly sliced strawberry, some gooseberries and slight notes of fynbos.

At the first sip you are overtaken by the density of flavour; everything that was alluded to by the colour and nose is abundant on the palate. It is a fresh mélange of fruit flavours; but also spice and herbs, held together by a perfectly tuned balance of acidity and sweetness. Cabernet Sauvignon, seen and made slightly differently and with all the right notes, this Rosé is hitting each one in perfect harmony.” (AbV 12.0%, pH 3.37, TA 5.8 g/L, RS 5.9 g/L)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: The slang term “dosh” for money. Mostly seems to be British, but it’s unclear how/why it came about.

Potential origin A: a portmanteau of either “dough” and “cash” or “dollars” and “cash.” If it’s British slang, the latter doesn’t seem quite right. Otherwise, pretty boring.

Potential origin B: a reference to doss, which was a place to sleep in old English. So dosh would mean the price for a place to sleep, I guess.

Potential origin C: a version of the old term “dash” referring to a tip or bribe in some parts of colonial Africa. Seems like the most plausible, although dosh didn’t start showing up until at least the 1950’s. Which I guess lines up with decolonization, so maybe that’s something?
