TASTING NOTES:
“A deep mulberry color comes from the thick skins of the grape, which also creates a gripping tannin structure on the palate. Mulberry and other dark berry flavors are mirrored in the flavor profile with each sip becoming more intense. This is an unapologetically delicious wine, containing a perceived sweetness and ever-giving fruit.” (AbV 15%, pH 3.19, TA 8.5 g/L, RS 2.06 g/L)

I don’t know very much French. I see French words in relation to a wine we’re selling, I look it up. I searched “La Bête” in Google. Now I know it means “the beast,” but the first result was certainly something. You might think, perhaps it’s La Belle et la Bête AKA The Beauty and the Beast. Oh ho ho, you would be mistaken. No, what I found was Walerian Borowczyk’s controversial 1975 film La Bête. And hoo boy. It does have some similarities to a Beauty and the Beast type of story, I guess. A woman is told to marry the son of her late father’s French acquaintance in order to inherit her father’s estate. She goes to France and learns the tale of a French woman being chased by an anthropomorphic beast in the wilderness nearby. She fantasizes about it. The son is reclusive and has odd deformities. Some parties involved try to stop the marriage. And then one night, she has a dream. About the beast. I’m not gonna go into detail. Turns out the son is descended from the previously mentioned French woman and… yeah.
