“Brutocao Family Vineyards is a fourth generation family owned and operated winery crafting award winning wines in southern Mendocino County. The property has been in the family since 1943 and is made up of four ranches, which allow Brutocao to produce 100% estate wines. TASTING NOTES:
Zinfandel - “The Estate Zinfandel is fruit from a Bliss block planted in an old-world style. The result is a wine that has both depth and luscious fruit flavors. Aromas of hazelnut, blackberry and cinnamon candy. White pepper and notes of nutmeg in the mid palate and a long dark cherry finish.” (AbV 14.5%, pH 3.77, TA 0.65 g/100mL)

Primitivo - “Sitting on top of our picturesque, hillside Contento vineyard, this single-vineyard Primitivo is a beautiful expression of an old world varietal flourishing in the new world. The Primitivo leads off with tobacco and currants. This wine is nicely balanced with hints of cloves and red berries.” (AbV 14.5%, pH 3.83, TA 0.65 g/100mL)

BARRELS:
Zinfandel - 18 months in 75% American/25% French oak, 35% new.

Primitivo - 18 Months in French Oak.

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
Whenever pilots would start the engine on old propellor planes, they’d yell out “contact” to the ground crew, who would respond “contact” as well. The reason for this call and response is that the ground crew would, prior to the engine being turned on, be manually spinning the propellor a few times. This was to ensure there wasn’t any oil build-up in the engine cylinders. Once that’s over, the pilot presses the ignition switch (or magneto switch) and yells contact to make sure the ground crew gets clear of the propellor.
