TASTING NOTES:
Classic - “This wine is perceived as bright and concentrated with vivid violet-red notes. On the nose it has typical aromas such as fresh plum, spices and menthol. The wine fills the palate with flavor and elegance with soft tannins that accompany the long and persistent finish.” (AbV 13.6%)

Reserve - “Deep red with purple hints. On the nose, this is a complex wine with diverse floral and fruit notes also a subtle touch of aniseed. The depth of the fruitiness is complemented by a licorice undertone and aromas of bitter cocoa, coffee, tobacco and vanilla, given by the aging in French oak casks. It has a great concentration in the mouth with a long and complex finish.” (AbV 13.9%)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: The Coen Brothers. Writing, directing, and producing their own films since the mid-80’s, Joel and Ethan Coen have a very distinct style that is yet difficult to describe. I guess most of their works could be called grounded black comedies involving the American South and West. But then again, Fargo is in Minnesota.

Although, I guess a common thread would be how many of their movies heavily feature serial killers, hitmen, bounty hunters, and various other career criminals.

Raising Arizona? Former convenience store robbers kidnap a baby. Fargo? Killers kidnap a guy’s wife so he can collect the ransom. The Big Lebowski? Yet another wife “kidnapped” for ransom. Huh. Lot of kidnapping. But O Brother, Where Art Thou? Three escaped convicts try to collect a hidden stash. No Country for Old Men? Hitman chases down a guy who happened upon money from a deal gone bad. I don’t even know where to start on Barton Fink.
