TASTING NOTES: Cherry red in the glass. Aromas of raspberry, pomegranate, plum, and fresh earth, followed by hints of white pepper and minerals. You’ll get more raspberry, cranberry and darker hints of black cherry and plum on the tongue. Great acidity to balance the sweetness of the fruit, and a long, spicy red fruit finish. (AbV 13.9%)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: The chassé. Unfamiliar? A lot of people tend to say it like “sashay.” And even if you have heard it like that before, what does it actually refer to? It’s like a dance move, right?

The chassé is indeed a dance move. It shows up in things like ballet and line-dancing. Seems wild that there’s overlap between the two. In any context, however, the chassé has a consistent meaning: step-together-step. From a neutral position, you step with one leg in some direction. You then move your other leg to meet it in that position. Finally, you step again with the first leg. You have just done a chassé.

In ballet, the chassé is kind of like a galloping motion. You slide your feet, and when they meet, they’re both in the air because you hopped or something. Graceful. In line dancing, you just step, step with the other foot so your legs are together, then step again. Real simple.
