TASTING NOTES:
“The nose is archetypal Rutherford, gorgeously ethereal and energetic with raspberry and cherry fruit dancing with damson plum and the quintessential Rutherford Dust. Decadent dark fruits swim below while a kiss of maple syrup sweetens the purple lilac top notes. Elegantly structured and beautifully balanced on the palate with the supple red fruits melded nicely onto minerally tannins that unwind to show the darker fruit notes underneath.” (AbV 15.2%)

Did you know that the B in Rutherford B. Hayes stands for Birchard? I don’t know what I expected. Ten weeks before he was born, his father Rutherford Hayes, Jr. died. His mother, Sophia Birchard, never remarried. In the 19th century, middle names started becoming a more common occurrence in Europe and America. If you look at the names of presidents before 1900, middle names are sparse but increase in frequency up to Theodore Roosevelt, after whom just about everyone was born with a middle name (a couple actually went by their middle name instead of their first as well).
