THAT REMINDS ME OF: BOOM! BANG! LOUD NOISES! If there were actually sudden loud noises, you’d probably experience the startle reflex.

Reflexes are unconscious reactions the body automatically does when exposed to certain stimuli, an impulse that originates in the brainstem. The startle reflex in particular occurs when there is an unexpected, potentially threatening touch, sight, or sound.

First to experience the reflex is the jaw, then the eyes, the head, the neck, the shoulders, the arms, and the legs in that order. This reflects the motion of neuron activations down the spinal cord. The response is meant to ready the body to protect vulnerable areas and escape if necessary.
