Named as a tribute to the family’s Scandinavian heritage, Gård and The Lawrence Family has been expressing the beauty of the Columbia Valley in their wines since 2006. From their vineyards on the Royal Slope, to Walla Walla where the wine itself is produced, to their three tasting rooms in Woodinville, Walla Walla, and Ellensburg, Gård is an award-winning and value-driven representative of Washington’s wine producers. TASTING NOTES:
“…aromas of vanilla and Mounds bar out front, followed by notes of baking spice, dark-roasted coffee bean, cherry and herbs. Full-bodied fruit and barrel flavors follow, with vanilla notes lingering on the finish. Fruit and barrel play equal parts in the show.” (AbV 14.20%, pH 3.72, TA 4.3 g/L)

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
While the verb “to barrel” obviously means to put things in barrels, there is another well-known definition. You know, like, “They came barreling down the mountain,” or, “The truck barreled down the highway.” Basically, to move in a rapid, reckless, and potentially uncontrollable way.

Signs point to barrel used in this latter context having originated from a concept that’s been around since the barrel’s birth. That concept being children wildly rolling themselves down hills inside barrels.
