“Alluring color draws you in. Shimmering pale pink suggests that cherry blossom, apple skin, golden plum come juicy and layered. Watermelon rind, rose petals and star anise take you on a long ride to a delicious and mouthwatering finish.” (AbV 12.5%, pH 3.29, TA 6.1 g/L)

Golden apples. These things cause people a lot of trouble in Greek mythology, I’ll tell you what. So there’s the tale of Melanion and Atalanta. Melanion fell for Atalanta, but Atalanta was only willing to marry someone who beat her in a foot race. Weird, but Atalanta is apparently really fast, and if you lost, you were killed. Realizing he could never outrun her, Melanion receives some golden apples from Aphrodite that he can discreetly toss onto the ground at points to distract Atalanta. He does, he wins, and Atalanta is unfortunately married. Unfortunate because a prophecy said it’d be her undoing.

And then there’s the time that Eris was uninvited from a wedding, so she pranked the gods by leaving a golden apple labeled “to the most beautiful.” Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite all reached for it, creating a fuss. Zeus does what he does and offloads his responsibility to serve as judge on a mortal, Paris. Unfortunately, Paris is a dumb-ass and chooses Aphrodite because she would give him Helen of Sparta, a woman already married to the King of Sparta. This causes the Trojan War.

And another time, Heracles was given extra tasks because two of his previous ones didn’t count due to technicalities, one of which involved stealing golden apples from Hera’s tree. Which if Hera already had a tree with golden apples, why was she so into the contest for the one? I guess it was more a contest for who was most beautiful, but then it might as well have been written on a rock or something.
