THAT REMINDS ME OF: Lemminkäinen.

Finnish mythology features a handful of heroes, some of which are the major players in the epic poem Kalevala. One such hero is Lemminkäinen, an attractive but brash young man.

In one adventure, he seeks to win one of Louhi’s daughters as a wife. Louhi is queen of the northern land of Pohjola and a godlike witch, with powers over death, cold, and disease. Her daughters are much sought after, and to be allowed to marry one, you must perform a great task at Louhi’s behest. Louhi tasks Lemminkäinen with hunting the black swan of Tuonela, the river of death. Unfortunately, Lemminkäinen falls into the river and dies.

His mother, however, after searching to find what happened to her son, manages to dredge Lemminkäinen’s pieces from the river and sews him back together. This doesn’t bring him back to life, but she asks a bee to bring honey from the god Ukko. With the drop of honey the bee delivers to Lemminkäinen’s head, he is resurrected.
