TASTING NOTES:
Deer Gate - “It expresses the ripest fruit on the estate and yet displays restraint and elegance. Light bodied yet complex. Dark cherry color. By nose, savory roasting herbs, plum and preserved cherries. By mouth, ripe plum, savory roasting herbs and mulberry.” (AbV 14.6%, pH 3.51, TA 5.08 g/L)

Winery Block - “It captures a sense of our cool fog and firm tannins from our Gold Ridge soil. Very complex with a deep ruby red color. By nose, toasted oak, plum compote and cardamom. By mouth, black berry, plum with soft, but supportive tannins.“ (AbV 13.9%, pH 3.58, TA 5.5 g/L)

The Fiddler’s Green is a metaphorical, potentially metaphysical, place where sailors dreamt of reaching. Primarily spoken of in the 19th century, it was said that a sailor of 50 years would go on to the Fiddler’s Green in the afterlife. Comfortable, lush fields of green under beautiful skies. Dancers and fiddle music. Full of good times and mirth. Definitely a nice dream for someone stuck on the seas for decades. It has some similarities to other mythical islands, like the Celtic Tír na nÓg or the Greek Fortunate Isles. Or it could be a place for sailors that is, as Herman Melville describes it, “providentially set apart for dance-houses, doxies, and tapsters.” So, really, wherever the sailors would rather be than at sea, it would seem.
