TASTING NOTES:
Zinfandel - “Vibrant notes of cranberry and blueberry dance gracefully, intertwined with delicate hints of vanilla and warm brown spice on the nose. Rich with the essence of jammy cherry and ripe raspberry, our Zinfandel’s palate unfolds, culminating in a spicy finish that adds layers of depth and complexity.” (AbV 16%, pH 3.57, TA 6.0 g/L)

Cabernet Franc - “Vivid aromas of brown spice, with subtle notes of vanilla and smoke. Youthful and bright on the entry with mouth-watering intensity in the mid-palate, finishing with dark cherry, cassis, leather and brown spice.” (AbV 13.5%, pH 3.78, TA 5.6 g/L)

Petite Sirah - “The nose reveals dark plum, wet earth and florals followed by hints of pepper, vanilla and smoke on the finish. On entry, delectable flavors of red plum, blackberry and raspberry. The oak aging has provided a subtle chalky finish with some brown spice character.” (AbV 13.5%, pH 3.52, TA 7.3 g/L)

VARIETALS: 100% Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Sirah.

BARRELS: 15 months in American oak, less than 25% new.

PAIRS WITH: Zinfandel with pepperoni pizza or a red sauce pasta with Gorgonzola cheese. Cabernet Franc with slow roast lamb shoulder, mushroom stroganoff, or a charcuterie. Petite Sirah with grilled lamb chops in a parmesan-herb crust, roasted radishes and sautéed asparagus with goat, gouda, or blue cheese.

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Jinkies.

I think most people would associate the phrase with Velma from Scooby-Doo, and I don’t blame you for that. In fact, I wouldn’t blame you if you thought it originated there. The origin of jinkies seems shrouded in mystery. The earliest recorded usage was in the 30’s, in a college newspaper, where the phrase was contained in a reader letter that began with the exclamation, “By jinkies.” So I guess it was some sort of Jesus substitute?

It’s the one mystery they never solved for us.
