TASTING NOTES: “The nose is redolent of wildflowers, peach, apple, nutmeg, tangerine and fresh clover. These flavors repeat on the palate along with accents of dry flowers and wet stone. After a soft, round entrance, a perfect balance of weight and acidity leads to a luscious finish that has some zip to it.” (AbV 13.5%)

VARIETALS: Riesling.

PAIRS WITH: Seafood, cheeses and charcuterie.

THAT REMINDS ME OF: That scene in Shakespeare’s Henry IV. You know, the one with Francis?

See, Prince Henry and his friend Ned Poins are at a tavern. To pass the time, Henry decides to mess with one of the regular waiters. His name is Francis, and Henry has not heard him say more than the price of a beer and, “you’re welcome.”

So, Henry asks Ned to stand in a side room and call out Francis’ name repeatedly while Henry locks him down in conversation. The point seems to be to make Francis have to constantly yell, “Anon, sir,” to Ned in the other room and interrupt his answers to Henry’s questions.

By the end, Henry sends Francis off to finally attend to Ned, only for both Ned and Henry to call out “Francis!” simultaneously.
