Oh Christ, who let this guy bring Naruto up on a dang wine sale? So Naruto is probably one of the most famous long-running shonen manga/anime out of Japan. Up there with Dragonball Z and One Piece. It was a titan of the early 2000’s. So Naruto lives in a village where a very viable profession is ninja. Literally, the whole village seems to be run on a hierarchy of ninja, with one super special ninja leading them as the “hokage.”
Naruto went to ninja school long enough to just barely graduate as a genin, the lowest rank of ninja. He gets paired up with two other kids who aren’t huge fans of his and sent on missions under the supervision of a more seasoned ninja, missions that are how the village makes its money. Along the way they get closer, learn more about each other, become more skilled and harden their resolve, the usual stuff. Eventually they are put forward for promotion to the level of chūnin, and the evaluation for it pits them against other genin from their village as well as genin from other villages in four grueling exams. These were the Chūnin Exams, and honestly, probably a peak for the series.
