TASTING NOTES: “The pink color of our LVE Rosé French Sparkling is reminiscent of a vineyard peach. With a fruity nose, blending notes of citrus and small red fruits, the bubbles are soft and pleasant. It’s well-balanced with voluptuousness and hints of red currants and pomelos, complemented by a nice acidity on the finish.” (AbV 11.5%)

What the hell is an ugni blanc? Turns out it’s Trebbiano. That’s it, thank you very much, enjoy the wine!

Okay, so Trebbiano is a popular Italian white grape. Accounting for nearly a third of all Italian white wine at times, it’s in over 80 DOCs across Italy. In France, it is particularly known as ugni blanc and happens to be a big part of Cognac production! Also balsamic vinegar.

As for why it’s called ugni blanc, I can’t figure it out. All I could find similar to it was the Ugni genus of plants, but that’s apparently named for the Mapuche name of the plant (Uñi). Probably has nothing to do with a grape introduced to France prior to colonization of the Americas.
