About The Meeker Vineyard: “In 1984, Charlie and Molly [Meeker] established their winery on the vineyard site with Charlie as the winemaker. In its early years, the winery specialized in Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. Today the Meeker Vineyard continues to operate as a family operation. Second generation winemaker, Lucas Meeker, joined the winery full time in 2007 and is now the Head Winemaker and in charge of daily operations.”

The Four Kings

TASTING NOTES: “The 2018 is amply structured and feels at first like a Merlot-centered Meeker “Four Kings”. But there is a gentleness and lushness to the edges of the wine that only Syrah can bring. Patient, elegant white cherry and Cab’s herbacious streak open to a warm mid-palate that bridges racy elegance with warmth of just a touch of toffee and toasted oak. The finish shows athe grip of our more classic Bordeaux-grape executions but more gentle. This is a bit tight still, but will drink beautifully now through at least National Donut Day on June 5th, 2037.” (AbV 14.9%)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: The Four Kings, a boss enemy in the game Dark Souls. A real dark horse of a game.

In Dark Souls, the world has been gradually decaying. This decay is due to the fading of something known as the First Flame. A group of beings known as the gods, led by Gwyn, used the First Flame to empower their souls and rule the world. Gwyn gifted four human kings a piece of his great soul for their loyalty, and they built a city in the shadow of the gods known as New Londo. But when the Flame began to fade, a curse of undeath began afflicting people. And as they became undead, they slowly also became hollow, losing their sentience and reason. Gwyn sacrificed himself in an attempt to keep the Flame going, but it was no use. To combat the curse, the Four Kings would learn how to drain the life of others to preserve themselves. The remaining gods would flood New Londo to deal with this, but the Four Kings would survive as wraith-like creatures, clinging to their piece of Gwyn’s soul until a lone undead (you) seeks to claim it.
