TASTING NOTES:
“This is a Mistella style (fortified grape juice) made from Black Muscat grapes. It is quite pungent on the nose and very floral with hints of lychee. The juice itself has not been fermented so it is very sweet. It is 16.5% alcohol (due to addition of fortifying spirit) which balances the sweetness nicely.” (AbV 16.7%, pH 3.86, TA 5.1 g/L, RS 173 g/L)

Hoo boy… A Streetcar Named Desire. Written by the wonderfully-named Tennessee Williams to be premiered in 1947, the play follows fading southern belle Blanche DuBois as she seeks refuge in her sister Stella’s New Orleans apartment. Blanche has lost their family estate to the bank, run out of money, and has fallen on hard times.

Unfortunately, Stella’s husband Stanley is an abusive dick. Guy’s a real control freak, and Blanche does not jive with that. In fact, Blanche is a threat who might make Stella realize he is truly a piece of shit. So Stanley decides he’s gonna mentally destroy Blanche to make her leave. He digs up all kinds of dirt on her past and pushes her over the edge with a cascade of traumatizing situations. Stanley yells “STELLA” and everyone remembers that part. That and “I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.”
