TASTING NOTES:
Mother Clone - “Our Mother Clone is a classic ‘Dry Creek’ Zinfandel with aromas of ripe red berries with a touches of cinnamon, vanilla and white pepper spice. Red cherry flavors combine with vanilla, licorice and warm baking spices. The berry-spice combination, so typical of Dry Creek Zin, includes a touch of pepper with the rounded finish which are a hallmark of our style. Enjoy now or cellar for three to five years.” (AbV 15.9%, pH 3.81, TA 0.570 g/100mL)

Three Vineyards - “Aromas of cassis, spicy oak and mocha introduce this medium bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. Soft tannins are framed by black plum and cherry followed by highlights of dried herbs and dark chocolate notes. Great structure and good acidity combine with a persistent and rounded finish. Enjoy upon release or cellar up to ten more years.” (AbV 14.4%, pH 3.69, TA 0.680 g/100mL)

Block 007 - “Enticing aromas of toasty oak, dried herbs, and blackberry notes are typical of this vineyard’s personality. Smooth tannins introduce berry flavors combined with a touch of pepper, cedar, and a mocha. A rounded finish framed by minerality and bright acidity is simply elegant. Medium to full bodied the wine’s great structure leads to marvelous aging potential.” (AbV 13.9%, pH 3.72, TA 0.580 g/100mL)

Did you know that the Baby Ruth candy bar used to be known as a Kandy Kake? The change happened in 1921, and it would be the best-selling five-cent candy of the late 20’s. Weirdly, the Curtiss Candy Company claimed the Baby Ruth was not named for then contemporary baseball star Babe Ruth. No, according to them it was in honor of Grover Cleveland’s daughter Ruth Cleveland. Few things about that, though. Ruth Cleveland died in 1904 to diphtheria. Grover Cleveland was president 24 years before. Maybe it was done in memory of Ruth? Except Curtiss Candy Company was on the same street as Wrigley Field. And Babe Ruth was getting really famous around 1921. HMMMM. But why deny it? To avoid paying royalties, probably. Just, take the guy’s name for advertising and don’t give him anything for it.
