TASTING NOTES: “From the fruit-forward aromas to the lingering flavors, Sonoma Classico blends the characteristics of each grape seamlessly: red fruits with a touch of cooking spices; cherry and berry flavors with bright acidity and light toast notes. A medium-bodied blend, there is an underlying structure of rounded tannins bringing balance along with a peppery and toasty finish.” (AbV 14.9%, pH 3.83, TA 0.577 g/100mL)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Cell division, I guess.

There are two kinds of cell division in eukaryotes (the cells that make up plants, animals, fungi, etc.): mitosis and meiosis. Through mitosis, one cell becomes two identical cells. The chromosomes are replicated and dragged apart to opposite ends of the cell. They begin to form two different nuclei. The cell then splits in half, dividing the organelles and new nuclei in separate new cells.

Through meiosis, you actually end up with four cells known as gametes. The original cell replicates the chromosomes and splits once. The cells then split again, not replicating chromosomes a second time. This leaves the resulting four cells with half of the original chromosomes. This is so that they can combine with, say, another person’s gametes. And that’s where babies come from.
