TASTING NOTES:
Merlot - “Aromas of dark red fruit and a touch of warm cooking spices. Flavors of cherry and plum are showcased with a vanilla oak toast. Medium bodied with mild tannins follow through to a round and fruity finish. A beautifully balanced wine.” (AbV 13.7%, pH 3.63)

Cabernet Sauvignon - “Aromas of dark ripe berries, dried herbs and earthy notes introduce this medium bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. Round tannins are framed by cherry, plum and blackberry fruit followed by highlights of oregano and mocha toast notes. Great structure and good acidity combine with a long finish framed by toasted notes and spice.” (AbV 14.4%, pH 3.79)

Cabernet Franc - “There’s a bouquet of dark berries, floral notes and black pepper spice followed by flavors of dark fruits, some minerality and bright acidity all integrating nicely. The rounded tannins frame the zesty finish and is accented by toasted oak and spicy notes.” (AbV 14.1%, pH 3.59)

BARRELS: 14-16 months in French oak, 30% new.

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine: Donkey Kong sure loves some barrels. Probably not French oak, but you can find the things all over his games. There are, of course, the barrels he tossed in the original Donkey Kong which rolled down construction beams to hinder Mario. In the Donkey Kong Country series of games, you can play as two of the Kong family at once. When you take damage, one of them runs off. You can, however, find DK Barrels throughout levels that, when tossed, free another Kong! Also in various Donkey Kong games are blast barrels, floating ones that if you jump in them, they somehow shoot you off in some direction. My guess is they are supposed to be full of gunpowder or something, given the pirate theming of enemies, but they are a key mobility feature.
