Tinta Madeira, Tinta Cao, Touriga Nacional, and Souzao are various Portuguese varieties commonly used in port blends. “Gee, isn’t it funny how the Port varieties are from Portugal?”

No. It isn’t funny, because you’re a smarty pants. As you are likely aware, the name “Port wine” comes from the fact that it is rooted in Portuguese fortified wine. In fact, European wine guidelines only allow wines from the Douro Valley of Portugal to be labelled as “port.” Of course, we aren’t beholden to European guidelines here…

DRINK IT FROM/WITH (conventional option):
A port glass or dessert wine glass would be fun, but likely a standard red. Paired with chocolate? Just a hunch.
