The flavors are bright and intense with tropical and citrus notes from the aroma, featuring flavors of honeydew melon, peach, tangerine, and tart pineapple. Light-bodied with a long and refreshing finish. Please enjoy it upon release or within a year or two as no aging is required. Dry Creek Valley has a strong pedigree for distinctive Sauvignon Blanc, and we have found the grape perfectly suited to our soils, sun, and sense of place. Named for founders Giovanni and Giulia Pedroncelli, this wine is a harmonious duet that balances bright, distinctive varietal character. Two blocks from our East Side Vineyard were picked about a week apart to capture both grassy freshness and a tropical fruit core, while the nearby Woods Vineyard adds additional tropical complexity. Planted near Dry Creek in well-drained soils, these sites mirror some of the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc vineyards.”

That smell you get standing over a freshly mowed lawn isn’t the grass being fine with what just happened to it. It’s closer to a scream. When grass gets cut (or chewed, or otherwise mauled), it releases a burst of compounds called green leaf volatiles — and one of the main jobs those volatiles do is recruit backup. Certain plants, when damaged, release VOCs that attract parasitic wasps, which then go hunt down whatever insect was eating the plant in the first place. You are, essentially, smelling a 911 call.
I love that we decided this smell was pleasant. Somewhere in human evolution we collectively agreed that the chemical signature of botanical distress smells like summer, like childhood, like “things are good now.” Bottling it into a tasting note feels almost rude to the grass, honestly — turning its emergency broadcast into a compliment.
