TASTING NOTES:
Marquis de Bellefont - “Medium-bodied, this richly layered wine offers aromas of cassis black raspberry, dark chocolate, dried black currant, leather and tobacco.” (70% Merlot 20% Cabernet Franc 10% Cabernet Sauvignon)

Château de Candale - “If you love mature Bordeaux with tertiary flavors of leather, mushroom, and earth, this wine is for you! It also features a deep purple color and lush aromas of cherry and vanillin oak. Good tannic structure and a long, well-balanced finish.” (80% Merlot 20% Cabernet Franc)

BARRELS:
16 months in French oak for Bellefont and 20-24 months in French oak for Candale.

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
It’s pretty wild that a phrase like “can’t hold a candle to” still exists in the modern lexicon. Like, there is no reason for the average person to know what it means outside of just hearing it over and over again in a certain context. The phrase dates back to the 1600’s, where 1.) candles were your only lighting choice and 2.) the norm was that professionals would have young apprentices around. The assumption is that if an apprentice knows absolutely nothing about a subject yet, the most help they can give is probably holding the light while the professional works. So the implication is that the subject of the phrase isn’t even worthy/skilled enough to fill that most basic role.
