We all know that Scott Harvey is the winery’s name (and the winemaker’s), and we can all just assume that Mountain Select is the series that the wine belongs to. But what if it wasn’t that. What if it was Scott Harvey Mountain? Or just Harvey Mountain? Well behold, the splendor of Appalachia’s own Harvey Mountain! A part of the Taconic Mountain Range, which is in turn a part of the Appalachian Mountains, Harvey Mountain’s summit is 2,057 feet high and located in Columbia County, New York. Has its own state park and everything. And that’s about it.

Oh, also the Taconic Mountains are an allochthon created by the collision of volcanic arcs with the craton Laurentia in an event known as the Taconic Orogeny during the Ordovician period. Several incredible words.
