TASTING NOTES:
Tempranillo - “Fruit forward, rich full flavors expressing both the varietal and the Amador Terroir. This complex spicy floral wine expressing ripe cherry, strawberry, light vanilla bean, baking spices and white pepper has a finish of velvety tannins.” (AbV 14.0%, pH 3.41, RS dry @ .1%)

Petite Sirah - “Inky in color, spicy, fleshy, cinnamon, mulberry, mellow dark mixed berry all come together to produce this balanced and extractive full flavored wine.” (AbV 14.5%, pH 3.52, RS Dry .2%)

Primitivo - “In the 50’s and 60’s Zinfandel was known as the Claret of California red wine. Primitivo and Zinfandel share the same chromosomal makeup. One coming from southeastern Italy and the other from California. Even though they have the exact same chromosomal makeup, the Primitivo produces more of a Pinot Noir like delicate style wine.” (AbV 14.5%, pH 3.55, RS <.2%)

VARIETALS: Tempranillo is 76% Tempranillo, 24% Mourvèdre. Petite Sirah is 79% Petite Sirah, 21% Syrah. Primitivo is 80% Primitivo, 20% Zinfandel.

BARRELS: 21 months in French oak.

PAIRS WITH: Pair the Primitivo with grilled chicken and “picnic” grilled red meats. You might ask Scott in the discussion for more.

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Okay, so I literally talked about griffins AKA gryphons about two weeks ago, and I guess that’s my fault for not looking far enough ahead. Griffins are winged beasts that were said to protect deposits of gold back in Ancient Greece.
