Briar and Bramble

TASTING NOTES: “Dark color with a briary varietal Zinfandel nose. Dark fruit, Black Cherry, Grilled Steak and Sage add to this wine’s fleshy center and full body texture. The wine’s long rich finish with its spicy fresh herbs shows a complete wine from beginning to end. Great wine to put in that water bottle and sneak into a movie theater. Complexity with first growth quality.” (AbV 14.5%, pH 3.51, RS 0.8%)

VARIETALS: 97% Zinfandel, 3% is secret? Maybe Scott will say.

BARRELS: French oak.

PAIRS WITH: Anything from spicy Thai dishes to filet mignon.

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Boonie Bears.

Have you heard of Boonie Bears? I hadn’t, so I guess the whole “reminds me of” thing isn’t exactly accurate. So, uh, Boonie Bears, or 熊出没 (xióng chūmò), is as you can probably guess from the latter name a Chinese show. A fully CGI children’s show about two bears, English names Briar and Bramble, that protect their woodland from antagonist Logger Vick. Employed by Mr. Li, who is never visible, Vick attempts to destroy the forest, and the bears are the primary animals to stand in his way.

You might be surprised to hear this show was very popular. It had, brace yourself, 12 seasons and a total of 780 episodes. The show began in 2012 and ended in 2022. There are 12 movies, 10 of which were feature films.
