Getting Off Scotto-Free

TASTING NOTES:
On the nose, deep creme de cassis (Kir) is upfront with white pepper and pomegranate. On taste, you find tart wild berry with big structure. Black cherry and spice hit the center of the palate. Overall full-bodied, bright and balanced with a long finish showing nice aging potential. (AbV 14.8%, pH 3.60, RS 0.06%, TA 0.58%)

22 months in French, American and Eastern European oak.

To get off “scot-free” is to get away with something without consequence. The origin comes not from anyone named Scott or Scotland but from an old term for taxes. The term skat, meaning tax/payment, came to England from Scandinavia some time around the 10th century. Skat turned into scot, and various scots started to appear for the general public. Thus, to get off scot-free is to basically get away without paying a tax.
