TASTING NOTES: “Bright citrus (lime, lemon blossom), orchard fruits (pear, nectarine, green melon), and a hint of tropical pineapple, balanced by surprising richness and minerality from the Wirz Vineyard’s old vines, all presented in a completely dry, crisp, and refreshing sparkling style with persistent bubbles and a long, clean finish.“ (AbV 12.5%)

But where did sire come from? What is a sire, anyway? Well in that case… Sire when you put it before a name refers to knighthood, but on its own can refer to king. Those meanings were both present from around the 1200’s. Before that, sire came from Old French where it also meant a “lord” type of figure, which in turn came from the Vulgar Latin seior, a variant of the Latin senior. In Latin, it just meant an elder, but it was probably because Latin was held in such high regard as a language that it became associated with someone of importance.
