TASTING NOTES:
Tempranillo/Tannat - “First bottling of a blend of these varietals from this sometimes terrifying hill - the Tempranillo rows run up and down - and the result is powerful yet smooth, with cassis-ish black fruit, vanilla Caucasian oak…”

Syrah - “Very deep ripe red and black fruits, an almost bewildering if subtle array of spices, Carpathian oak (really) and a full to bursting palate impression. with moderate tannins and of course alcohol, glycerol, and nonfermentable sugars.“

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
The “Caucasian oak,” or Quercus macranthera, is native to Western Asia and the Caucasus (shocking, I know). Sometimes used ornamentally in Europe, and apparently the Tempranillo/Tannat has some quality of it.

DRINK IT FROM/WITH (conventional option):
Both could do with a standard red glass, though the Syrah is colossal.

OR (really-going-with-the-theme option):
Off the branch of a vanilla Caucasian oak… whatever that means.
