The Guide Wine Company is driven by wine expert Phil Hurst’s constant curiosity and exploration of grapes from around the world. Grapes are collected and brought back to the winery to make some intriguing limited production wines. Of course, this one is from the exotic, distant land of Washington’s Columbia Valley.

TASTING NOTES:
“Opening with inviting aromas of cherry, cocoa and leather, this wine leads to a silky palate that is layered with vanilla clove. This well-structured wine leaves developed cedar and lingering fruit on the finish.” (AbV 13%, pH 3.90, TA 5.82 g/L)

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
Psychopomp is a term used to refer to the near ubiquitous concept of a spirit guide for the afterlife. Like, Charon on the river Styx in Greek mythology. It was a common practice to leave a coin in the mouth of the deceased to pay Charon to ferry their spirit to the underworld. You’ve also got the Valkyries taking slain warriors of Scandinavia to Valhalla, Xolotl of the Aztecs, the grim reaper, Japanese shinigami, and so on. It’s pretty neat that they’ve existed in some form with pretty much every culture across the world.
