About Tin Barn Vineyards
On the ridges of the Sonoma Coast and off of Tin Barn Road, Tin Barn Vineyards is a hidden treasure in Sonoma County. Winemaker Michael Lancaster and his partners have set up shop in this rural spot and joined up with other winemakers to create a collective called Eighth Street Wineries. Although the vineyard itself is primarily Syrah, the winery has produced varied offerings from other vineyards since its founding. Today’s also utilizes fruit grown by Peter Haywood in the Mayacamas Mountains.

“Winemaker Michael Lancaster worked with the fruit to create a restrained and refined expression. Our 2013 vintage displays cranberry fruit and a hint of candied violets amid finely structured tannins.“ (AbV 15.8%, pH 3.27, TA 6.0 g/L)

Tin Pan Alley was the name of a collective of music publishers and songwriters that defined popular music in the US for decades, from the late 19th century into the early 20th. Basically, a bunch of people in the music business gathered in one part of New York City and created this whole ecosystem. Song publishers ran things, publishers being the folks who printed and distributed sheet music. They got the music from songwriters who sold their creations directly to them. Of course, there were musicians and other performers around. There were also “song pluggers” who would go to music stores and perform new hits for customers to drum up interest in new publications. It’s weird to think about the music industry before recordings became the norm.
