TASTING NOTES:
2016 - “It begins on the nose with rich, dark black fruits, blueberries, blackberry bon bons, cassis, fragrant violets, tobacco leaf, and baking spices. Its balance and mid-palate are most notable, providing long, plush tannins alongside its dense fruit character. On the palate, it delivers baked berry crisp, black and red fruits, toasted walnuts, brioche, pencil shavings, and cedar on the finish.” (AbV 14.9%)

2017 - “On the nose, this wine offers fresh blackberries, black cherries, blueberry pie, graphite, toasted brioche, and a touch of lavender. The palate offers plush but concentrated tannins, mixed berry jam, dried black cherries, dark chocolate, toasted walnuts, cedar, and a touch of vanilla bean with a finish that softens and lingers.” (AbV 14.8%)

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
The use of the word “capital” to mean something along the lines of excellent is a bit of slightly outdated British slang, but what I want to talk about is “capital” versus “capitol.” It’s weird. Why does the version with “o” exist? Both stem from the Latin “caput” and “capitalis” which refer to the head, figuratively and literally. It appears that capitol in particular came from the Capitolium, the temple of Jupiter, in ancient Rome. This explains why capitol only ever refers to buildings while capital can mean anything from a city to a letter.
