About Anne Amie Vineyards
Anne Amie Vineyards is located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon and owned by philanthropist Dr. Robert Pamplin. Winemaker Thomas Houseman and grower Peter Ebbers handle the production. Though their primary varieties are in the Pinot family, as a nice compliment, they also grow Old-Vine Estate Müller-Thurgau planted back in 1979. Both LIVE and Salmon Safe certified, Anne Amie crafts some high quality wines and does so sustainably.

Stubborn as a Mül

TASTING NOTES:
Amrita - Elderflower, starfruit, Ranier cherry, lemon drops, quince, and shortbread on the nose. Perhaps white strawberry, kumquat, golden raspberry, St-Germain, and summertime in the palate. Finish is spicy, mineral driven and effervescent. (AbV 12.7%, pH 3.08, TA 7.3 g/L, RS 1.19%)

Müller-Thurgau - Lemon meringue, starfruit, flint, kaffir lime, kumquat, and Meyer lemon on the nose. Hints of key lime, Japanese plum, yellow grapefruit, feijoa, and pomelo tastes. Finish is dry and mineral. (AbV 13.1%, pH 3.18, TA 6.2 g/L, RS 0.27%)

BARRELS:
Fermented in stainless steel, aged on lees for four months.

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
To be “stubborn as a mule” is to be very stubborn. Thank you for coming to my lecture.

Okay, okay, so it likely has roots in or earlier than the 1800’s, when mules were, how you say, “chic with ye common folke.” They didn’t talk like that in the 1800’s, I’m just being entertaining. Granted, given how common mules were as draft animals, clearly people were able to get them to do lots of things, right?

PAIRS WITH (winery recommended):
For the Amrita, try Thai food, Mexican food, NC BBQ, fish sauce chicken wings, salad rolls, Indian food, life, Netflix…

For the Müller-Thurgau, try paella, charred broccoli and ricotta, clay pot ma po tofu, Pad Thai, tuna poke, moules frites, grilled oysters, ceviche, or arugula and goat cheese salad.

The common sense and self-preservation characteristic of the oft intelligent mule, perhaps the source of their “stubbornness.”
