TASTING NOTES:
2014 - “While this 2014 possesses familiar flavor details from previous years (a hint of 2008’s depth, the lush fruit core of 2009, the elegance and focus of 2012), the completeness of it dazzles. The 10th harvest seems to have it all, and it feels like a breakthrough pleasure to share the fruit of our efforts: brilliant blue/violet hued, deep dark fruit notes with a complex spice element, and pleasantly chewy tannins. It’s built for the long haul but is all enticingly filled with youthful charm.” (AbV 13%)

2018 - “The vinous denouement of this fortuitous winegrowing narrative has a warm violet robe that confirms its lush, supple expression of ripe berries, and hints of Asian spice and lightly smoked meat. It’s youthful but impressively expressive nose leads to a lively, textured mouthfeel whose integrated tannin and acid elements lifts the palate and propels it forward with grace and balance.” (AbV 13.5%)

In the novel and, more recently, animated film Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway, the terrorist organization known as Mafty targets officials of the Earth Federation government following a push to deport lower-class individuals to space colonies while the environment continues to deteriorate. To combat Mafty, the Earth Federation creates a task force specifically to hunt them down. Originally the Kimberly Unit, named for its original captain, leadership is handed off to Captain Kenneth Sleg, who renames it to the Circe Unit. As part of its efforts to eliminate Mafty, Captain Sleg commissions a giant robot (which are called Mobile Suits and are basically walking/flying tanks) called the Penelope. Its test pilot is the young and confident, although somewhat emotionally volatile, Lieutenant Lane Aime.
