TASTING NOTES: “On most afternoons, the Carneros winds sweep across the hills, and on most evenings, fog rolls in off the Bay. These cool conditions are perfect for producing vibrant, crisp Pinot Gris.

Bright aromas of melon, lemongrass and lime. On the palate, citrus and melon with an incredible mineral backbone. Crisp and refreshing!“ (AbV 13.6%)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: True Grit.

First a novel by Charles Portis published in 1968, it was adapted to film in 1969 and later remade in 2010 by the Cohen Brothers.

They all go pretty similarly, for the most part.

Farmer Frank Ross employs a man named Tom Chaney as a farmhand, but during a trip to Fort Smith to do some business, things go south. Chaney kills Ross, steals the money he was carrying, and escapes. Frank’s teenage daughter, Mattie, seeks revenge on Chaney. Selling horses, she acquires the funds to hire Marshal Reuben J. Cogburn, the meanest son-of-a-gun you’d ever meet, to hunt Chaney down. Joined soon after by Texas Ranger LaBoeuf, the trio would attempt to kill Chaney and his posse, led by the outlaw Ned Pepper. Mattie proves her “grit” to the lawmen, and Cogburn saves her life after an incident with a snake pit.
