About Brick Barn Wine Estate
Brick Barn is named after the big 36-stall brick barn created by an Italian stonemason back in the 70’s for an Arabian horse farm. Odd start for a winery, yes? Well, for 50 years the Williams family has been watching over and cultivating its surroundings, although it wasn’t until 2012 that 35 acres of grapes were planted. All this time, though, Norman had seen the promise in this prime Santa Ynez Valley real estate, and it was finally time to show what Brick Barn’s distinct location could do. And what it did was produce some premium wines.

“Inspired by the classic Provençale rosés of Southern France, our 2019 Grenache Rosé is wine of abundant freshness and purity. The 2019 Grenache Rosé presents luscious, summery aromas of peach, watermelon, floral citrus and sliced almond. A soft texture delivers fresh flavors of strawberry, grapefruit and tangerine, all accentuated by a sense of cool minerality. Tangy acidity adds zest to a clean, quenching finish.“ (AbV 12.7%, pH 3.4, TA 0.60 g/100mL, Dry)

Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) is the Pink Floyd song everybody knows, even if you don’t think you do. Why? Well, it’s the one with the children’s choir singing, “We don’t need no education, we don’t need no thought control.”

One of the producers on the album, Bob Ezrin, thought the song would be a neat single, suggesting they make it a bit longer and with a different beat. While the band wasn’t on board at first, the writer of the song, bassist Roger Waters, eventually told Ezrin to go ahead and waste his time with silly stuff. So, Ezrin edited it into an extended version and had one of the engineers record children from a local school singing the lines. The school was paid £1,000, and the children all received albums and concert tickets as compensation.
