About Paradise Ridge Winery
“Walter Byck & Marijke Byck-Hoenselaars discovered the magical Paradise Ridge property in 1977 in the heart of Wine Country. Walter and Marijke are wine lovers and art appreciators and saw their future in 155 acres overlooking the Russian River Valley. Their vision manifested into a beautiful estate winery which they built in 1991 and where they continue to produce elegant wines to this day. Because of their passion for art, the property also features a curated sculpture grove, serving as a gathering space for their community.”

TASTING NOTES:
2018 - “Dark garnet color. Aromas of berry muffins, tea with cream, smoked meats, and flourless chocolate cake with a lightly tannic, lively, dry medium body and a refreshing, medium-long cranberry, red cassis, and pimento finish with light oak flavor. A racy Cabernet Sauvignon to unwind in the cellar; drink now up to 10 years.” (AbV 13.8%, pH 3.67, TA 6.5 g/L)

2018 Reserve - “Our objective is balance and complexity while at the same time showcasing that very special place ‘Rockpile’. The blending of Petit Verdot brings a pretty floral, a blue fruit component to the blend, while Malbec’s bright fruitiness and vibrancy accentuates both the nose and palate. Drink over the next 3-12 years.” (AbV 13.8%, pH 3.67, TA 6.5 g/L)

John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost recounts the rebellion of Satan against God, Adam and Eve’s life in the garden, and their eventual exile. Satan picks a fight with God out of vanity, rallying other angels to his side in a bid to no longer be servile. War breaks out, leading to Satan and many angels falling from Heaven with him. After the war, God finally makes Earth and then humanity. Satan, bitter about humanity becoming the new hot stuff, convenes with the other fallen angels and decides he wants to mess things up. As most people know, he convinces Eve to break the one rule the humans were given in the Garden, and Adam jumps off that bridge too because all his friends are doing it. Satan goes back to Hell and proclaims, “Mission accomplished!” There is celebration, until they all turn into snakes. They just turn into snakes. It’s like a cosmic prank. God says, “Hah, you’re a snake now! I got you!” Satan’s like, “Damn it, he got me good.”
