About Calcareous Vineyard
With their motto “Let The Soil Speak!”, the Calcareous Estate produces wines at three vineyards with tiny yields but a big sense of place. Utilizing small lot fermentations, extended maceration, no use of chemical fining, premium cooperages, and minimum racking, they do their best to produce some dang distinctive, hand-made wines.

Don’t Get It Twisted

TASTING NOTES:
“An extremely tropical nose is coupled with a golden color which indicates a Chardonnay allowed to reach a proper stage of ripeness. Full and rich on the palate with just a hint of toasty oak is balanced by a wonderful blast of bright acidity that keeps the finish clean and refreshing.” (AbV 13.8%, pH 3.74, TA 6.17, Brix 24.3)

BARRELS
“After settling, 25% of the juice is transferred to new American Oak barrels with the remainder going into a single stainless tank for fermentation. The McCall fruit is all whole-cluster pressed and fermented 100% in stainless steel. After completion of primary fermentation, the stainless lots are combined. The wine in oak barrel is allowed to complete malolactic fermentation to add some softness to the finished wine. After 5 months in barrel, it is blended with the stainless lot and prepared for bottling.”

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
The phrase “don’t get it twisted” has existed since at least 1994 with Thug Life’s song “Don’t Get It Twisted,” but I’m guessing it existed earlier. Meaning “don’t get me wrong/misunderstand,” it has some clear similarities to phrases like “don’t get your knickers in a bunch” or “don’t get your underwear in a knot.”
