TASTING NOTES:
“Made from Grenache grapes in the classic Provençale style, the 2021 Rosé of Grenache presents a pale flamingo-apricot hue and a fragrant, floral nose. Aromas of freshly sliced peaches, hibiscus and hyacinth reveal accents of nectarine and orange zest. Hints of honeysuckle, orange blossom, crushed rose petal and pineapple round out the enticing bouquet. The palate is exceptionally clean and refreshing, with flavors of peach, mango, apricot, and honeydew melon accompanied by notes of lemon chiffon, apricot, papaya and kiwi. A long, luxuriant finish lingers with juicy essences of peach, strawberry and cherry.” (AbV 14.1%)

Anyway, the Dow Jones, full-name the Dow Jones Industrial Average, is one of the most looked-at stock market indices out there since it’s made-up of 30 of the most prominent companies in the United States. Of course, the companies included have changed over time given that the Dow Jones first came into existence in 1896. When Charles Dow and Edward Jones put it together, heavy industry was the money maker, the thing everybody was watching. Thus the whole “Industrial” part.

As of today, it includes: Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing, American Express, Amgen, Apple, Boeing, Caterpillar, Chevron, Cisco, Coca-Cola, Dow, Goldman Sachs, Home Depot, Honeywell, Intel, IBM, J&J, JPMorgan Chase, McDonald’s, Merck, Microsoft, Nike, Procter & Gamble, Salesforce, Travelers, United Health, Verizon, Visa, Walgreens, Walmart, and Disney. Markedly less industrial. Coca-Cola got added in 1932, removed in 1935, and then re-added in 1987, which I thought was interesting. McDonald’s was added in 1985, and Disney was added in 1991. Since 1997, tech companies as we know them really started to pop up on the list as well. Who knows who will be on the list in the future.
