TASTING NOTES: “This Pinot Noir offers a soft fruit character on the nose with accents of earth and oak. The fruit is slightly reserved, yet generous in the glass with complexity and layers of compact red fruit that finds harmony with the oak influence of vanilla, cedar, and coriander. On the palate this Pinot Noir shows tension and power. There is a structured acidity and tannin that comes from our Willamette Valley sites. The fruit flavors consist of fresh red cherry, red raspberry, and tart cranberry with wood spice providing balance and accenting the fruit profile with power and intensity.” (AbV 13.1%)

The Scooby Doo franchise has been around for over fifty years now. It has proved to have quite the staying power and versatility, which is somewhat surprising when you consider how early, relative to those fifty years, they resorted to gimmicks to restore interest. In 1972, the first new Scooby Doo series since Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? in late ’69 debuted: The New Scooby-Doo Movies.

First off, episodes are now twice as long. So if you thought they didn’t spend enough time meandering in the original series, you’re in luck. The structure of the original series does not lend itself well to an increased run time without adjusting other aspects, and they did not really adjust much. Mostly the extra time’s occupied by some additional slapstick, wandering that don’t really add much, and moments with the guest stars. Oh yeah, there are guest stars now. Who are they? The Three Stooges, but not the real ones. Laurel and Hardy, but not the real ones. The Harlem Globetrotters, but not the real ones. The Addams Family, but not the real ones. I mean not the real actors.

You DO get some good celebrity guests like Don Knotts, Cass Elliot, Phyllis Diller, Jonathan Winters, and Don Adams. Honestly would recommend any of their episodes. They’re fun.
